Registered Psychotherapist

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and stress or confused and frustrated as you look for peace in a difficult relationship, I want to help. Some clients come to recover from losses in their lives, process grief, or consider big decisions. Others notice their lives aren't aligning with their values or they struggle to see their worth. Whatever brings you, you are so welcome here.
You'll find that I'm warm, calming, and compassionate. I will give you space to process your experiences, gain perspective, and find freedom from stuck places. I'll help you explore your thoughts and emotions, address how problems are impacting your life, and set goals for the way forward. Your story is uniquely yours and it matters. I bring to my work as a psychotherapist over 20 years of past experience in Christian ministry and journalism. As I ask questions, I'll listen with curiosity to create a safe space that aims to bring clarity, hope and healing.
I am currently accepting new clients. Fill out the contact form below to book an appointment. In person appointments are available at 11 Ferris Lane, Suite 300 in Barrie, Ontario. I also provide online counselling sessions.

Counselling with Steph

Together, we will build on your strengths and values to help you move toward greater emotional, relational, physical and/or spiritual well-being. I am passionate about helping women who are struggling with anxiety, difficult relationships, estrangement, losses and/or grief, low self-esteem or self-worth. I have compassion for those experiencing a crisis of faith or meaning in their lives, church hurt, or are in the midst of a life transition like divorce or retirement. I draw from several evidence-based counselling approaches including narrative, cognitive-behavioural, and family systems therapy. My work is trauma-informed, recognizing the brain/body connection in emotional regulation and utilizing an attachment lens.
Faith-based counselling is available upon request for those whose faith is a vital part of who they are and want to be. I also have a special interest in providing pre-marital couples counselling. I am a lifelong learner and can help clients consider options for ongoing growth through books, podcasts, groups and other avenues of psycho-education and community.
I have been married for over 25 years and have three adult children. I am an avid reader who enjoys sitting by a fire, coffee with friends, or long walks at the lake.
