Your story is uniquely yours and it matters. I will help you talk about the hard parts, understand how it's shaped you and set goals for the way forward.

I bring to my work as a psychotherapist over 20 years of past experience in Christian ministry and journalism.  As I ask questions, I'll listen with curiosity to create a safe space that brings clarity, new meaning and hope.

Whether you want to reduce anxiety and stress, navigate difficult relationships, resolve conflict, or recover from grief or loss, I'm committed to having conversations that allow you to process your thoughts, emotions and actions, gain perspective and find freedom from stuck places.

I am currently accepting new clients. Fill out the contact form below to book an appointment. In person appointments are available at 11 Ferris Lane, Suite 300 in Barrie, Ontario. I also provide online counselling sessions.

Counselling Approach

Counselling with Steph

Hand drawn Dandelion

Together, we will build on your strengths and values to help you move toward greater emotional, relational, physical and/or spiritual well-being. Spiritually-informed counselling is also available upon request for those whose faith is a vital part of who they are and want to be. I draw from several evidence-based counselling approaches including narrative, cognitive-behavioural, and family systems therapy. My work is trauma-informed, recognizing the brain/body connection in emotional regulation and utilizing an attachment lens.

I work mainly with people who are struggling with relationship conflict, anxiety, loss/grief, divorce, or spiritual crisis as well as those in life transitions. I provide couples counselling and also have a special interest in working with pre-marital couples. I am a lifelong learner and can help clients consider options for ongoing growth through books, podcasts, groups and other avenues of psychoeducation and community.

I have been married for over 25 years and have two adult sons and a teenage daughter. I am an avid reader who enjoys sitting by a fire, coffee with friends, or long walks at the lake in Barrie.
