Good conversations don't happen by chance. The best ones make you feel heard, valued, and understood. I'm passionate about having those kinds of conversations. I want to help you process your thoughts and emotions, gain perspective, and resolve problems. The stories people share about their lives have always been important to me as someone with twenty years of experience in both Christian ministry and journalism. I know it isn't easy to talk about your most tender experiences. I’ve been there too. That’s why I want to give you a safe space to talk that brings hope and clarity, so you can reduce stress, resolve conflict, make decisions, or recover from loss and trauma.

I am currently accepting new clients. Fill out the contact form below to book an appointment. Counselling appointments are through the Covey Wellness Centre in Elmvale or available virtually as well.

Counselling Approach

Counselling with Steph

Hand drawn Dandelion

My strengths-based, collaborative approach will help you consider how problems are affecting you physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually and lead you toward well-being. I enjoy providing faith-based counselling for Christian clients and I pursue ongoing training in those types of interventions. Narrative, CBT, and family systems therapy also inform my approach.

I have journeyed alongside women who have experienced loss, abuse or trauma, relational difficulties, anxiety, or spiritual crisis as well as those in life transitions. I also have a special interest in working with pre-marital couples and helping first responders and their partners build resilience. I am a lifelong learner and can help clients consider options for ongoing growth through books, podcasts, groups and other avenues of psychoeducation and community.

I also have experience in teaching, public speaking, and leading groups and enjoy opportunities to help others develop. I have been married for 25 years and have two adult sons and a teenage daughter. I am an avid reader who enjoys sitting by a fire, coffee with friends, or long walks at the lake in Barrie.
